She’s wealthy. Check
She’s powerful. Check
She’s the Queen of All Media. Check
She’s got a super-powered, highly effective, and surprisingly straightforward morning routine.
If you need a pick-me-up to shape your morning routines for the better, you’ve come to the right place.
In this post, Oprah’s morning rituals are examined in detail to show the power of good habits done consistently.
"The morning has always been my favorite part of the day," - Oprah Winfrey.
Oprah rises between 7:16 am and 7:23 am without needing an alarm clock (her consistent bedtime helps). The circadian rhythm probably explains this. She brushes her teeth and gets ready to forge a beautiful day.
Morning walks are a great way to start your day — Oprah agrees with this too.
They help you clear your head and get some fresh air. The University of Health Antigua observes that morning walks can also help boost cardiovascular health, improve blood sugar levels, and reduce stress.
But for Oprah, her morning walk is not a physical activity she enjoys alone. Her dogs are in on it too. It is a time for her to connect with nature, get some fresh air, and bond with her dogs.
Emotionally, morning walks are a force to reckon with. Walks help to clear your head and begin your day positively.
"I have learned that every day starts with an intention"- Oprah Winfrey.
Think about the last time you felt truly connected to something bigger than yourself.
Maybe it was when you were standing on top of a mountain, watching the sunset, or holding your first major trophy or your newly born baby.
These are moments when we feel a sense of awe and wonder — when we connect to our spirit selves.
Oprah connects to her spiritual core by reading a While reading, she brews herhas her coffee (A nice blend of caffeinated and hazelnut) brewing, which she savors while journaling. She normallyalso reads from her Ipad a book called "Bowl of Saki" by Hazrat Inayat Khan.
According to Oprah, the book “contains the teachings of the Sufis, a Middle Eastern sect that believes all paths lead to God and that all religions are one, pointing to the same north star.”
Mediation and mindfulness are also a big part of Oprah’s mornings. It takes about 20 minutes of silence while sitting in her breakfast chair for Oprah to meditate.
During warmer seasons, the Queen of All Media prefers to sit outside on a rock shaped like a seat, observing the 3000 trees in her building’s compound and enjoying nature’s power to heal and soothe.
Oprah’s spiritual practice helps her stay in tune with the big picture. She begins by reading a series of motivational cards. Each card represents a new day and a new opportunity for success.
"When you are doing something from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy."- Oprah Winfrey.
After her morning walk and spiritual practice, Oprah begins her physical activity for the day.
This consists of a light workout and yoga. The workout is a resistance flexibility, low-impact strength training program that requires a couple of people pushing against you as you do the same too.
On other days, she can opt to sweat it out on the treadmill or go on a 2-mile run.
Physical activity is vital for success because it helps to improve mental clarity, increase energy levels, and reduce stress.
But for Oprah, her workouts also offer a way to connect to her body. She can get in touch with her physicality and appreciate the importance of caring for her body.
"I have learned that taking care of myself is not self-indulgent."- Oprah Winfrey.
When the morning routine is done with, Oprah gets down to business. Leveraging the power of precise focus and blocking all distractions, Oprah does her best to wrap up every work-related thing in two hours.
Maintaining laser focus requires knowing precisely what you need to get done and when it needs to be done. Oprah’s got an outstanding chief of staff who reminds her of everything on her plate, so it’s far easier for her to survive without a to-do list.
She does rely, though, on her “iPad Mini” to keep her efficient. Not everyone gets to have one of those devices, but with Focus Bear, you get an intuitive app that keeps you efficient and productive.
Success begins with a plan and, from there, is achieved by following through with that plan. One such plan is having a solid morning routine. Read this to create yours.
Oprah’s morning routine is reflective of her values and goals. By connecting with her spiritual side and caring for herself physically and mentally, she sets herself up for a successful and fulfilling day.
Remember, as you take care of yourself, you'll be more equipped to care for others. So start your day off right.
